Walking down Jones Bay Wharf towards 2 Fratelli Cafe on a quiet Saturday afternoon, watching the sailing boats heading out toward the Harbour, and the sun playing on the ripples in the water, you could be forgiven for thinking you were about to fork out a rather exorbitant amount for lunch given the setting. You couldn’t be more wrong! 2 Fratelli Cafe, at the end of Jones Bay Wharf in Pyrmont Point, is a very pleasant surprise indeed.

David, the very friendly owner, has refreshingly diverted from the Sydney norm of hiking prices up to ridiculous heights when even the tiniest glimpse of water can be viewed. But that isn’t to say that quality of food has been sacrificed by any means are far from, in fact, with a menu serving a mix of innovative and hearty meals.

There is an all day breakfast menu for the late risers (or simply those that like to eat breakfast at lunch), which consists of the usual variations on eggs, and some more unique offerings such as the bruschetta, avocado and bacon and with everything under $12 you will be pushed to find breakfast at a better price.

For the lunch menu 2 Fratelli Cafe offers burgers, pasta, risotto (my pick is the beetroot, sage and feta risotto), salads and Paninis, all at around $10 – $12. There are plenty of steaks and burgers on offer, but vegetarians still have a few choice pickings, including the eggplant, artichoke, semi-dried tomato and feta Panini (which I plan on returning to try soon!). Keep an eye out for the various specials written up on the window too – all of which sounded fantastic. Given such choice we had difficulty deciding just what to order.

If you happen to be visiting on a hot day you can’t go past the “Cleanser” a deliciously revitalising mix of watermelon, mango, apple juice and yoghurt, with a shot of spirulina ($6) – and the colour is just as amazing as the taste.

2 Fratelli Cafe is open 7am to 3pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 3pm on Saturdays. So next time you are out for breakfast or lunch around Pyrmont Village, why not try 2 Fratelli Cafe you will be very pleasantly surprised!
