  1. What is your name and the name of your business?
My name is Veroniki Adamou and the name of my business is CHITTA. I teach a Traditional Indian yoga which is a combination of Hatha and Ashtanga yoga. My classes are a combination of postures, breathing and relaxation teachniques
  2. What made you decide to get into your profession/occupation?
I practiced yoga for a few years before I decided to become a yoga teacher. I saw wonderful changes in myself from practicing yoga and I wanted to study it more and get a deeper understanding of the science of yoga. After a couple of years of travelling and working overseas I went to India to study yoga. I didn’t originally know if I wanted to teach but after my experience in India it was obvious that it was exactly what I wanted to do. Yoga is my passion and I feel truly blessed that my path in life led to teaching and practicing yoga. Yoga is an amazing gift and after experiencing its benefits I want to share it with everyone.
  3. How long have you been doing it for? What’s the best thing about yoga? What type of benefits can accrue as a result of regular yoga practice?
I have been practicing yoga for 6 years. The best and most challenging thing about yoga is that it is never ending and there is always something new to learn. I feel that I can be studying it all my life and there will still be new things to learn. Yoga means the union of body and mind and it is an ancient philosophy which includes postures, breathing techniques, relaxation and meditation techniques. Everyone can benefit from practicing yoga whether they do it for health, physical, mental or spiritual reasons. Yoga teaches us to be still, breath consciously, accept ourselves as we are and others as they are. I teach children as well as adults and seniors and it is fantastic to see how it influences everyone. Some of the benefits can be more balance in our lives, an increase in physical health and strength, the feeling of relaxation, acceptance of ourselves, more concentration, stress release, the sense of vitality and energy. Yoga has a spiritual path but it is not a religion
  4. What Attracted you to Pyrmont?
I helped out a friend with teaching her classes for couple of weeks and when she could no longer teach the classes I decided to take over. I liked the energy of the place and the people. My students are all wonderful people and it is really rewarding to see how yoga is influencing their lives. There is a real sense of community which is the yoga way and I hope that we will continue that this year. When the last course finished last year we all went out for dinner and got to know each other a bit more, which made the sharing of yoga even more special
  5. Do you offer any other products or services? What are they?
I also sell yoga mats and yoga bags. I normally sell them for $50 and the package includes a complimentary eye bag.
