Pyrmont Village is very proud to once again sponsor the annual Pyrmont Art Festival to be held on Saturday, 2 May 2009 in Union Square. Established and emerging local artists were invited to enter their work in the Festival and Pyrmont Village is very happy to be supporting our local community and all its talent.

The organisers of the unique Pyrmont Art Festival had the phrase good things come in small packages in mind, as once again the artworks on display will be on small canvases, 310mm by 310mm. Entrants are supplied with the small canvas with payment of a nominal entry fee and are in the running to win prizes totalling over $10,000.

Artists are asked to price their works on the entry form and all artworks are available for sale on the day, with 75% of the price going to the artist. So not only might you find yourself the proud owner of a new artwork by a talented local artist, you can enjoy the thought that you are helping to support local creative talent.

The 2009 Festival  follows on from the success of the previous two Pyrmont Art Festivals. Last year’s event was a vibrant and exciting day at which Amanda Seddon was the winner of the 2008 Pyrmont Village sponsored prize.

It’s a wonderful community event that the entire family can enjoy. Throughout the day you will be entertained by musicians and other performers as you gaze at the art, enjoy food and drinks from local establishments and have the opportunity to meet many of the local business owners. We will be there and would love to meet you! There’s also the chance to win prizes drawn throughout the day and vote in the People’s Choice Award—make your opinion heard and get involved in this amazing community project.

The Pyrmont Ultimo Chamber of Commerce and the TAP Gallery conducts the Festival with assistance from local volunteers and businesses, including Pyrmont Village.

Rain, hail or shine, the Festival will run from 10am to 4pm and provide six hours of art and entertainment for art lovers from all over Pyrmont and the Inner West. If it rains, the event will move from Union Square to the pedestrian walkway at the southern end of the hotel at Star City Casino. Head down on Saturday and check out what creative local artists have been up to—you might even discover the next big thing in your own backyard!
