Pyrmont Dog Obedience Classes
For all Pyrmont dog owners looking to train their four-legged friends, council is running free dog obedience classes which will start on Saturday, 19 September 2009. To join the classes you must be a City of Sydney resident or a resident of a neighbouring council which borders the city’s local government area. Your dog needs to be from 5 months up to 10 years of age.
The obedience classes are held over 6 weeks, each consecutive Saturday, and run for half an hour. The classes are available at a range of inner city locations. In the morning from 9:00am till 12:00 noon, the classes are being held at Sydney Park in St Peters and Rushcutters Bay Park in Rushcutters Bay. If you want a sleep in, then afternoon classes are also available from 1:00pm till 4:30pm at Harmony Park in Surry Hills and Federal Park in Glebe.
You also have a choice of Basic and Intermediate obedience classes. The latter, are for dogs that have had previous training and work on teaching your dog to respond to commands around distractions such as crowds and other dogs. The basic class teaches your doggie to walk on a leash without pulling, sit, come, stay, drop, and to mix with other dogs.
Not only will the classes help to train your four-legged friend, but you will also have the opportunity to meet and make friends with others in the community.
There are places for 10 dogs in each class and bookings are essential for this popular course. To book your dog’s spot in the course call the City of Sydney on (02) 9265 9333 or email council@cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au
