Pyrmont Event: 2042 art on the street in Newtown
King Street in Newtown comes alive with 2042: art on the street for 2 weeks in September and October. Over 50 of Sydney’s most innovative and talented artists transform Newtown into an urban art space and street gallery which meanders through the laneways, public spaces, streets and shopfronts in Newtown. So come along Pyrmont Village and check out this cool event.
Works featured are from graffiti artists, installation and stencil artists, performance groups, video and multi-media works, photographers, audio pieces, model makers and more! This festival gives you the chance to explore art outside of traditional art gallery settings, with most of the pieces free to view night and day.
See a giant toy soldier standing guard in a shop front, a rusting Mercedes being taken apart by giant mechanical ants, a railing come alive, concrete TVs lying dormant in the gutter, projections across walls and singing trees.
