Pyrmont Events: Learn The Three Levels of Spiritual Perception at Adyar Bookshop
Join in the Cafe Conversations at Adyar Bookshop in the city, just a short stroll across the bridge from Pyrmont. At this event, Khenpo Ngawang Dhamchoe will discuss how individuals perceive the world in 3 alternative ways, that being the vision of experience, pure experience and impure perception. This is based on the teachings of the Sakya tradition, a major branch of Tibetan Buddhism.
Khenpo Ngawang Dhamchoe has been a Tibetan Buddhist Monk for more than 30 years and is the highest qualified Sakya teacher in Australia. The term “Khenpo” (as outlined on http://www.drogmi.org/about/khenpo_biog.html) has at least three meanings in Tibetan Buddhism:
- a scholar who has completed an extensive course of study in sutra and tantra
- a senior Lama who can give ordinations is also called a Khenpo
- the head of a monastery
It is very rare for monks to qualify as a Khenpo. And while there are thousands of monks, there are only very few Khenpos. They receive this recognition for special qualities and a deep understanding of Buddhist philosophies.
Come along to the event and be enlightened!
