Plant a tree Pyrmont Village and and join the community to help to save the environment on National Tree Day, Sunday 2 August 2009. Over 13 million native trees and shrubs have been planted it the 14 year history of Australia’s largest community tree-planting event.

Get down and dirty and join in the fun at another great green event, by attending one of the tree planting spots in and around Pyrmont.

Wentworth Park Light Rail Station, Pyrmont: Sunday, 2 August 2009 from 9:00am to 12:00noon
Organised by Pyrmont Ultimo Landcare, activities on the day will include tree planting, ground preparation, mulching, site maintenance and weed control to help build the wildlife corridor along the light rail. All you need to do is wear clothing ready for gardening including a hat, long pants, long sleeved shirt and enclosed shoes. Tree planting tools and equipment, water, snacks and refreshments will be provided on the day. No RSVP is required.

Broadway: Sunday, 2 August 2009 from 12:00noon to 4:00pm
Organised by UniLodge Sydney volunteers will be tree planting on the day. There will be a BBQ and it will be BYO. Make sure to bring your own gloves and tools and it is recommended you wear a long sleeved shirt and pants, covered shoes, as well as a hat. An RSVP is required. Sydney Park, St Peters/Alexandria (near Barwon Park Rd): Sunday, 2 August 2009 from 11:00am to 1:30pm
The City of Sydney and Planet Ark’s National Tree Day event will include taking part in activities such as tree planting, bush regeneration, mulching and ground preparation. Tool and equipment will be provided as will water, refreshments and a BBQ. There will be a Live Native Animal Show, Fifi and the Flowertots, environmental stalls, worm farming demonstrations and a BBQ (free sausage sizzle for the first 500 tree planters). Just bring your gloves and a water bottle and wear appropriate gardening. No RSVP is required.

Carrington Drive, Centennial Park, Paddington: Sunday, 2 August from 11:00am till 12:00noon
The tree planting activities have been organised by the Centennial Parklands Foundation. Come along wearing clothing ready for gardening. A hat, covered shoes, long sleeved shirt and long pants are recommended. No RSVP is required.

Paddy Gray Park/Reserve, Glebe: Sunday, 6 September 2009 from 10:00am to 12:00noon
Organised by the Blue Wren Sub Committee of The Glebe Society, volunteers will enjoy activities such as tree planting, a plant give-away mulching, ground preparation, weed and pest control to help improve the local region for small native birds, in particular Superb Fairy-wrens. Make sure you wear a hat, a long sleeve shirt and long pants and bring along your sunscreen. Gardening equipment, gloves, drinking water and snacks will be provided on the day. No RSVP is required.
