Pyrmont Recycling of E-Waste: 6 September 2009
If you have you have old TVs, mobile phones, laptops, desktops, computer monitors or other electronic waste that you no longer need or want, you can take them to the Bay Street Depot in Ultimo on Sunday, 6 September between 9:00am and 3:00pm for recycling. For City of Sydney residents this is a free service. There is no booking required, just turn up with your e-waste and drop it off. All you need to do is bring along your ID and proof of address. And, it is great to know that 95-98% of your e-waste collected will be reused and recovered.
Why is it important to recycle e-waste? With the rapid growth of electronic waste in Australia, it is imperative to recycle to help save energy and natural resources as well as decrease greenhouse gas emissions. On top of that, electronic waste can contain lead and mercury so that when it reaches landfill it can create environmental damage and human harm which cannot be repaired.
Other electronic items that you drop off for recycling include vacuum cleaners, cameras, printers, scanners, fax machines, hair dryers, photocopiers, batteries, DVD players, video recorders and your DVDs, tapes and CDs.
When: Sunday, 6 September 2009
