From restaurant dinners, to markets, tours, cooking classes and community events, there is much to do and taste!

Here is just some of the great foodie events taking place in Pyrmont.

Let’s Do Lunch at Astral restaurant in Star City Casino Hotel, Level 17, 80 Pyrmont Street, Pyrmont (T:9657 8767) where you can enjoy a special menu of Seven Deadly Sins: a mixed grill of black pudding, duck-fat fried bread, quail egg, wagyu sausage, bacon, duck hash and devilled kidneys for only $35 including one main course plus coffee and a glass of Brown Brothers wine or Coopers beer or San Pellegrino. Let’s do Lunch at the Flying Fish at Jones Bay Wharf, 19-21 Pirrama Road, Pyrmont (T:9518 6677) where you can indulge in Sri Lankan devilled prawn curry with pumpkin and leek malum, mint sambal and acharu (relish) for only $35 including one main course plus coffee and a glass of Brown Brothers wine or Coopers beer or San Pellegrino. Let’s do Lunch at Zaaffran in Darling Harbour, Level 2, 345 Harbourside Shopping Complex (T:9211 8900) where you can enjoy Lobster and prawns glazed in tandoor, mixed salad, spiced potato wedges, fresh mushroom flatbread with truffle butter for only $35 including one main course plus coffee and a glass of Brown Brothers wine or Coopers beer or San Pellegrino. Let’s do Brunch at Sumac Bar and Restaurant in Darling Harbour, Shop 284, The Promenade, Darling Harbour (T:9281 2700) invites you to explore the magic taste of Morocco with a brunch for only $25 during October. There is a wide range of choices from starters including date and banana porridge and warm rice pudding, through to eggs and sides of merguez sausage and mushrooms and halloumi, and breakfast tangines and pancakes.

Enjoy a Sugar Hit at Sean’s Kitchen at Star City Casino Hotel, Level 17, 80 Pyrmont Street, Pyrmont (T:9657 8767) of Chocolate and five-spice tart with Isigny creme fraiche served with Hennessey XO. Available nightly from 9:00pm-11:00pm for only $20.

For High Tea, take a leisurely stroll across Pyrmont Bridge to The Loft at 3 Lime Street, King Street Wharf for a high tea platter of savoury treats and sweets, plus a tasty tea-infused cocktail or a Brown Brothers Sparkling. Get Fresh with Fish at the Sydney Fish Markets at Bank Street, Pyrmont and take part in this interactive seafood-cooking demonstrations to encourage local communities to enjoy locally caught seafood varieties. Also, pick up tips on how to transform affordable, lesser-known species of seafood into delicious meals. Demonstrations are being held on 7, 14, 21 and 28 October at 11:00am and 12:00noon Entry is free. Bookings are essential 9004 1143. Or you can take an early morning tour of the Sydney Fish Markets to see how it operates and learn how to choose the best fish and shellfish. Try a delicious Cocktail and Canape for only $20. At the Astral Bar in Star City Casino in Pyrmont (T:9657 8767), enjoy a Pear and rosemary martini with a scallop tartare. Sean’s Kitchen at Star City Casino (T: 9657 8767) the cocktail is the Flame of Love Revisited: Belvedere Pomeranzca wtih a Pedro Ximenez sherry rinse, stirred with orange bitters and garnished with orange zest accompanied with a roast duck croquette. And across Pyrmont Bridge at The Loft in King Street Wharf (T:9299 4660) the Belvedere Brunch Martini is comprised of Belvedere Pomarancza, black peppercorn-infused Aperol, Antica Formula and mandarine juice, with yellow grapefruit peel and is served with freshly shucked Pacific oysters.

Pyrmont Uncorks the Hunter Valley is a new event for Pyrmont where master chefs from Pyrmont’s restaurant precinct team up with winemakers from the Hunter Valley region. Pyrmont restaurants and chef’s showcased include Sean’s Kitchen, The Flying Fish, Sugaroom, Pyrama, The Apprentice @ TAFE and Blue Eye Dragon. The event concludes with a wine and food experience at Pyrmont Bay Park (opposite Star City Casino) on Sunday, 11 October. From 12:00noon until 6:00pm you can meet Hunter Valley winemakers from the 17 wine companies that will be there, relax with a glass of the Hunter Valley’s best wine, taste the latest creations from chefs of renowned Hunter Valley restaurants, fill the pantry with local produce and stock the cellar. Enjoy live entertainment from the Master of Ceremonies Robbie Buck & DJ Jack Sh*t and have fun taking part in wine spitting and golf competitions as well as great prizes. The Hunter Gatherer Dinner Club is dedicated to hunter and gatherers who source raw food, then cook it and preserve it. Taking place on Friday, 16 October at 11:45am, this moving ferry feast will begin at the The Wharf Restaurant in Walsh Bay, then take you to 2 Sydney Harbour Islands for entree and a main, and conclude at 5:30pm at the Flying Fish in Pyrmont for dessert. The New World Chef Showcase at Star City Ballroom in Pyrmont will feature the finest restaurants and Chefs from around the globe – France, Spain, Britain, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, USA, China and South Korea – showcasing their signature dishes and to sharing their cooking tips and philosophies. Master chefs include Sebastien Bras from Michel Bras in France (one of the top 10 restaurants in the world), David Thompson who is back from London and Thailand to preview his new book Thai Street Food and Japan’s leading culinary authority Yoshihiro Murata. The Showcase starts with Opening Night cocktails on  Friday, 9 October and then runs all day on Saturday, 10 October and Sunday, 11 October.
