Pyrmont Restaurants: Flying Fish and the Growth of Pyrmont
The amount of quality Restaurants within the Pyrmont district is an indication of the quality of lifestyle enjoyed by both the residents and workers in our area.
Flying Fish was one of the first stand alone restaurants built in Pyrmont since the resurrection of the area. I clearly remember during the fit out stage wondering what we were doing. There were no people anywhere and Harris Street had a few cafes and a lot of run down buildings
Some of the street names had changed and we were not even on the map, no one knew where to find us. The area has since grown into a vibrant village offering all the cuisines and styles you would expect from a large city.
Flying Fish has evolved with the community and in August this year we are unveiling our new Sushi Bar. Guests will now be able to come in and sit at our sushi bar and sample the delights of our master Sushi Chef Shogo Hamada. Shogo was trained in Japan and, before coming to Flying Fish he was Sushi chef at the famous Azuma restaurant. Our new concept is ideal for the locals who still want to come and sit in the heritage surroundings of Flying fish but don’t necessarily want to have the full a la carte experience.
It is also perfect for quick lunch. Open lunches from Tuesday to Friday and also Sunday the Sushi bar will have one of the best views in town.
