My father in law has owned 210 Harris street for a number of years, and a photo from the 1920 has it as a commercial building (see City of Sydney archives). He died last year (2009) and the building will soon be up for sale. He ran a printing company here. Both my Grandparents were also born in Pyrmont (late 1880′s), one in Harris St and the other in Mill Lane (not there anymore). No numbers were listed on their birth records (unfortunately) The Quarrymans has a great lunch, and is very tempting to go there for a great value lunch.

Wendy it is a Great Pub. Have been there for the odd pint. Very Very Central. Still retains elements of its old world charm.

Visited your place today with my partner & sister, enjoyed your old-style lemon squashes on a scorcher of a day. We were in the area because our grandparents lived for a while at 210 Harris Street and we had hoped fairly optimistically it would still be there. But we were delighted to see the photograph of the hotel in 1911, the very year our family moved from NSW Central West to Harris Street. Grandfather had been a mine engine driver so found employment as a Crane Driver at Cockatoo Island. Your Manager and staff were very helpful. Its wonderful that you are interested in the history of the building and the area. Thank you.
