Taboo Hair Studio

- What is your name and the name of your business?
Tab, Taboo Hair Studio. - How long have you been a hairdresser?
15 years. - What made you decide to get into your profession? What Inspired you? What’s the best thing about being a hairdresser?
In fact, I fell into it. I started working in a hairdressing salon part-time and then really started to enjoy it thanks to great support. Creative expression and design inspired me to do it as a full-time profession. What’s great about hairdressing is image transformation, creativity as well as the social aspect of it. - If I want to be a hairdresser, where can I go, and what do I need to do?
There are TAFE Open Days where you can find out more. To become a qualified hairdresser you undertake an apprenticeship. This takes 4 years of full-time work and part-time study with 1 day a week at TAFE for 2 years. - What Attracted you to Pyrmont?
It is a young and growing area with lots of opportunities. - What in your opinion is the best thing about working/living in Pyrmont? Corporate but still casual, and friendly. Pyrmont offers a casual village atmosphere with parks and water, yet only 5 minutes from the city but without the hustle and bustle.
- What one feature that you feel, if Implemented by the relevant government, Local/State/Federal, that in your opinion would give Pyrmont, that extra zing?
A cinema. It would keep people in the area after work and they can have a meal on the way home. Also, more retail stores in the iconic Union Square. - Do you offer any special services? Tell us more…
Cutting and styling and men’s grooming, in particular cut throat shaving (razor face shaves). - Is there any piece of Law would you like see changed/Modified or Created, that would really help you?
Outdoor advertising – to be able to have A frame advertising (sandwich boards) on display, and signboards (larger than 1m x 1m) on heritage buildings.
